The federal state of Encamp

The province of Encamp is located in the east of Andorra and borders France as well as the provinces of Canillo, La Massana, Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. With an area of around 74 km², Encamp is medium-sized, but with around 13,000 inhabitants, it is one of the more populous regions of Andorra. The province lies in the middle of the eastern Pyrenees and is characterized by a high alpine landscape. The Pic dels Pessons mountain range forms the highest massif in Encamp. The Valira d'Orient river flows through the valley and joins the main Valira river at Escaldes. The capital Encamp is picturesquely situated on the slope above the valley - a place where alpine nature and urban life merge harmoniously. Special features include the historic electricity museum, the cog railroad to Lake Engolasters and access to the Grandvalira ski resort via Funicamp - one of the longest cable cars in Europe.
